Description
This is a Responsory belonging to the precise order of chants established in Rome to be sung during Eastertide, specifically the morning of Good Friday; it is a selection from the Baroque Era and a rare example belonging to a Complete Collection of Responsories. It is very sober and is written following the polyphonic rules very strictly. It is the custom to sing these Responsories very softly during masses.
The piece has lovely harmonies and it is very natural to sing; today it can be performed not only on Good Friday, but during Communion at church services or as concert repertory.
