Description
This is a setting of the famous short Eucharistic Hymn of Mozart's famous motet "Ave Verum Corpus" ("Hail true body") for female chorus; it was originally written for mixed chorus and orchestra. The present arrangement is for keyboard/organ or piano and SSA voices. We have performed it many times both for church services and concert programs with great success, it lies easily in the vocal range of female or children's choirs. A Two part chorus can be used by just singing the upper two voices of the score.

Ave, verum corpus
Natum de Maria Virgine,
Vere passum immolatum
In Cruce pro homine,
Cujus latus perforatum
Unda fluxit et sanguine,
Esto nobis praegustatum
In mortis examine.

English translation:

Hail, true Body,
born of the Virgin Mary,
who having truly suffered,
was sacrificed on the cross for mankind,
whose pierced side
flowed with water and blood:
May it be for us a foretaste [of the Heavenly banquet]
in the trial of death.
