Description
This is a Performing Edition for Soprano-Alto and Baritone voices (choral Ensemble or Soloists) of a Mass written around 1540 by the Italian Renaissance composer Giuliano Buonaugurio da Tivoli, better known as Giuliano Tiburtino. This composer was famous and rich, he was the Chapel Composer (Kappelmeister) at the Cathedral in Tivoli, Italy, in the first half of the 16th century. He also worked for Pope Paul III from 1544.
I am providing a keyboard accompaniment for rehearsals for the Gloria. Also the Kyrie has been uploaded with a rehearsal accompaniment. The Gloria is an extract of 7 parts of the Mass, it is an important part of the work; the whole mass has also been uploaded on Musicaneo as a Vocal Score. Also the SSA version has been uploaded (Renaissance Mass for 3 voices SSA).
I would think originally this music was performed by three male voices, Countertenor, Tenor, Baritone or Tenor, Baritone, Bass. This is modal music and can be sung at any pitch.
The score can be sung a cappella by a choral ensemble or by three solists. It can also be performed with accompanying Wind or String instruments that can double the vocal parts. It can also be performed solely by instruments.
