Description
The traditional German tune and lyrics are set for two voices, Soprano and Alto, or Tenor and Bass with optional keyboard accompaniment (piano, organ, keyboard). The German text for 4 verses is placed beneath the melodies, and the early Latin text is also included above the notes. The vocal duet is basically written in traditional counterpoint and harmonies and can be performed a cappella, while the optional keyboard accompaniment is slightly modern in its harmonies and rhythms.

Ein Kind geborn zu Bethlehem, zu Bethlehem;
Des freuet sich Jerusalem! Alleluya.

Hier liegt es in dem Krippelein, dem Kroppelein
Ohn' Ende ist die Herrschaft sein, Alleluya.

Gelobt seist du, Herr Jesu Christ, Herr Jesu Christ,
Der du als Mensch geboren bist. Alleluya.

Zu dieser heiligen Weihnachtszeit, Weihnachtszeit
Sei Gott der Herr gebenedeit. Alleluya.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A child is born in Bethlehem, in Bethlehem;
Jerusalem rejoices! Alleluya.

Here He lies in the manger, the manger
There is no end to his reign, Alleluya.

Praise be to you, Lord Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus Christ,
You were born as a human. Alleluya.

At this holy Christmas time, Christmas time
Be the blessed Lord God. Alleluya.
