This is a Christmastide or Epiphany motet arranged for four equal female or children's chorus. The original composition was set for four mixed voices. It does require low altos tho the piece can be performed a half-tone or a tone higher if desired. This is a Marian Hymn - Hymn to Mary - and this is the text:
Alma Redemptóris Mater, quæ pérvia cæli
Porta manes, et stella maris, succúrre cadénti,
Súrgere qui curat pópulo: tu quæ genuísti,
Natúra miránte, tuum sanctum Genitórem
Virgo prius ac postérius, Gabriélis ab ore
Sumens illud Ave, peccatórum miserére.
Mother of our Redeemer!
Door to Heaven and Star of the Sea.
Help your fallen people that seek to rise,
You who gave birth, Nature marvelling at your sacred Creator,
Vergin before and afterwards,
Welcome the joy that Gabriel has brought,
Show your mercy on us sinners.
